Link and brief summary This Health Canada report explains that Children are more likely to be victims of sexual abuse than adults because they are most vulnerable. 75% of offenders are adults, and even more often the offenders know their victim on a personal level. The report explains that being young and dependant on an adult is a major point of risk. Child victims also tend to be less likely to report their abuser right away or ever because the adult abuser is capable of easily manipulatting a child. Children that are sexually abused tend to grow up with more mental and physical problems than those who have not been, and 40 % of adult sexual abusers have admitted to being sexually assaulted as a child.
